I have a Moss Roadster Kit Car with a fibre glass body ivory in colour. It is based on a Triumph Herald 1200 chassis. It is a project underway. For those of you who do not know the name the Moss Roadster it looks like a Morgan or an MG TF.
The donor vehicles were the Triumph 1200 and a Spitfire 1500 with a gearbox that has overdrive. I still have all the parts from the two cars with the exception of the bodies and the chassis of the 1500. Two engines – the 1500 engine and gearbox is mounted on the 1200 chassis – two wiring looms, two prop shafts, two petrol tanks - two of everything. It has wire wheels and the correct hubs. I started to collect suitable chrome work – bumpers, torpedo side-lights and a Daimler Jaguar front grill.
I stopped work on it at the rolling chassis stage some time ago and I know I will not continue with it. I am sure it will be of interest to anyone who wants to build a Morgan-type kit car, or perhaps someone who is restoring a Triumph 1500 or a Triumph Herald. I would like to sell it all. I do not want to sell it in parts and I hope I do not have to weigh it in as scrap as I believe both vehicles have a place in our motoring history. I have a V5 for the Triumph Herald.
Most replies have asked how much money I am looking for. The Moss kit parts were £1400, I already owned the Herald, but I bought the Spitfire 1500 so I was hoping to recover the cost of the kit at least.
I have no way of transporting the rolling chassis therefore, buyer to remove.
