- This Austin 7 joined our Black & White Collection in December 2009.
- When the previous owner's Brother passed away, an original Austin 7 Chummy chassis which was believed to date from 1928 was found in his garage, along with the front portion of a Chummy body and an old buff log book. As a memento to his late brother, the previous owner decided to restore the car, which he did so over a three year period and completed it in 2004.
- The pick-up body was beautifully constructed by a friend of the restorer who lived locally to him in Solihull, near Birmingham.
- Around 2002/3 and early on in the restoration, the restored chassis and running gear was displayed at the NEC Classic Motor Show on the Midland Austin 7 Club stand.
- The Chummy was driven very few miles by the previous owner since its restoration was completed.
- This Chummy was invited and displayed in front of Goodwood House in August 2010 at the prestigious Goodwood Road Racing Club Annual Vehicle Display.
- Four new Blockley tyres, inner tubes, and rim bands were fitted in August 2010.
- This Chummy is in superb restored condition as minimal dry weather mileage has been covered since the restoration. It has only been driven on a few short journeys in its current ownership (us) and it is this lack of use that sees it being put up for sale.
- You could keep it as it is or have a coachbuilder such as Roach Manufacturing easily construct a correct Chummy rear end for it. As it is it would be a fantastic racing circuit paddock wagon at VSCC and other classic car meetings!
- Viewing by appointment only please.
- This Austin is not owned by the Garage and will therefore be sold as a private sale. The Garage's advertising space is being borrowed.
