Original UK MG TF with exceptional history For Sale (1954)
The TF was really a bit of a stop gap model for MG. The TD was looking rather dated, and the new MGA was far from ready for production. Happily for everyone concerned this resulted in one of the prettiest of all MGs. Production commenced in September 1953 and continued to April 1955. Our car was first registered in March 1954. The TF is a much rarer car than the earlier TD and actually shared similar production numbers to the TC model.
This particular TF is an original UK example that had been in very long term ownership. In fact the previous owner bought the car in 1974. He bought it from a friend who had been in possession since 1963. The car was in a poor state and a total rebuild commenced immediately. This involved taking the car back to a bare chassis and starting from scratch. In more recent times the gearbox has been rebuilt and the engine converted to run on unleaded fuel.
This is a very smart car that we feel confident will be a loyal servant to it's new owners, as it had been to the previous custodian. Whilst it is an older restoration we have given the car a bit of a spit and polish, and it's looking simply fabulous. The car’s history is known from only a few years old, which is quite unusual with cars of this age.
