Riley 9 Lynx with disappearing hood SOLD (1933) | | |
| | | http://www.tomhardman.co.uk | Chassis # 6020505
Engine # 40658
Registration # TV7055]
This Riley 9 Lynx was built on the 7th of February 1933. This model is the two door variant of the Lynx, with disappearing hood. The variant was only built from October 1932 to September 1933 and without doubt it must be one of the prettiest touring models Riley ever built. It was also somewhat lighter and I feel more elegant than the 4 door Lynx. This excellent example is finished in dark green with biscuit leather and black carpets. Full tonneau and rear side screens are also with the car.
Accompanied by a good amount of paper work which includes all its original Buff log books from 1933 until 1971. The cars entire ownership can therefore be traced from first owner, a Mr William Wigley of Nottingham and throughout the war until 1971, when Mr Alan Phillips of County Durham bought the car, Mr Phillips then owned the car until 2011, when he exchanged it for another car from my client - after 40 years most of us would want a change wouldn’t we! During Mr Phillips ownership, the car was usually maintained by Macdonold Racing. Invoices for works and maintenance accompany the car, as do MOT certificates dating back from 1978 to the present. In 1993 the car had a full restoration and more recently in 1999/2000 the engine was rebuilt and the gearbox reconditioned. The car will be sold with fresh MOT, currently on SORN.
