1st registered as HWX 868 on 16th May 1949 to a William Whiteley of Pool in Wharfdale Yorkshire, handed down from father to son until 1971 when it changed hands to Motor Dealer Mr Alec Norman of Gamlingay in Bedfordshire who used it as his personal transport, during this period it sported his personal plate AN 2. In 1974 it was purchased by the current owner and was given the registration 430 EVE which it still carries today.
1974 to 2012 = 38 years, and as part of a large collection it has only been used sparingly. Now of an age where he doesn't feel he wants to cope with strangers ringing him up or calling round his home the owner has asked me to sell the car on his behalf.
The car is currently showing just over 52,000 genuine miles it's MOT'd until April 2013 and supported of course by the free tax disc in the window. I have personally known the car for 10 years during which time it has been maintained meticulously inspite of its lack of miles. This is not a concours winning fully-restored car, it has a few minor faults but hey that's what you get with originality. It starts instantly and drives perfectly, because of its rareness still often causes a stir when I go out in it.
NB. The grandson of the original owner has contacted now me and kindly sent a photocopy of the original bill of sale which I have added to the history file.
Now, about the price . . . . . .
Please realise there has always been a considerable difference in price between MkVI dropheads and standard steel bodied saloons. One of the other 4 of these cars sold a few years ago for £120k and we all know which direction Bentley prices have gone in the last 5 years so I consider our asking price to be very fair. We are open to offers but please lets not waste each others time by offering 25% less, remember they'll be no hidden extra commission fees etc.
