1988 Ducati 851 KIT. Emphatically not a Strada , this is the genuine Factory original Homologation special WSB race bike fitted with lights. Only 200 were made and no doubt several of them came to an end on the race track, so this is a very rare remaining and special machine. The general consensus is that around 50 are left. This M/C has clearly never seen a race track, nor has it seen much work, even the toe pedal rubber is as new. All of the special irreplaceable KIT parts are just as they should be. The 851 was the first production desmoquattro with previously unimagined power. The tubular steel frame was F1 derived, with an aluminium swinging arm and rising rate rear suspension. the wheels are 17" racing magnesium, brakes are. full floating Brembo., the model was factory supplied with electric start,. headlamp and tail lamp. The main differences between the Strada and this Superbike "KIT" were;-braced swinging arm, open dry clutch cover and factory race clutch, 17" Marvic light wheels, race cam shafts, race ECU, fairing cut out on left panel for air ram duct, reverse cone "silencers", tacho and temp guage only.
Since arriving from an Italian Collection, we have been right through it, cam-belts , fuel filter, fuel pump , full service ,MoT and UK registered with an age related number. This is a full- on experience of riding a really fantastic M/C, from the era when the rider had more control over the bike than computers, it rides like a very fast bike up to the sort of revs when lesser machines fade away, then all hell lets loose.
