Alvis TD21 DHC For Sale (1961)
|A lovely genuine and original example of the most desirable post war Alvis|
Alvis launched the elegant TD21 in 1958, fitted with an uprated version of the three litre engine launched with the TA21. The styling was heavily influenced by the Graber Coupes built in Switzerland on the TC21 chassis, but the body construction was undertaken by Park Ward, better known for their bodies on Rolls Royce and Bentley cars.
The car was available as a two door saloon or convertible, and both were fitted with sumptuous interiors in full leather, with exquisite wood veneers for the fully stocked instrument panel and door cappings. It was fitted with Lockheed servo assisted brakes, with discs at the front, and could be fitted with manual or automatic transmissions. The car had plenty of leg and headroom in the back for adults, and a large boot, making it a very practical proposition for families and serious continental touring. When new it was an expensive car, and regarded as in the same league as Rolls Royce, Bentley or Bristol, but with a more sporting edge reflecting Alvis's heritage. Alvis Cars still exists today, and the availability of spares is excellent.
Our example is one of the rare (191 produced) Drop Head Coupe cars, fitted with manual transmission, wire wheels, and the rare reclining seats. It is beautifully finished in dark green, and has been recently fully retrimmed in cream leather piped green. The carpets throughout the car and boot are also in excellent condition, and the woodwork has been recently refinished to as new condition. Much money has been spent over the past few years keeping the car in first class mechanical condition, and the body is excellent with no work required.
The car will be fully serviced and checked over by Fisher Restoration prior to delivery, and will be supplied with a new MOT. Prospective purchasers will have the opportunity to fully examine the car on a ramp with one of our senior engineers, to confirm the excellent condition of the car.
A rare opportunity to buy a genuine example of arguably the most desirable post-war British convertibles
