Chassis No.AE 580 was sold new to Louis Klemantaski the internationally famous motor sport photographer. Completely rebuilt for race/rally in 2005, the original
AC 2 litre unit was replaced with a period Ford 2.6 to Ruddspeed 170 bhp spec, as fitted to eight of the last factory built Acecas.
ZF gearbox with o/drive, 3.9 diff, rack & pinion steering, new brakes, drive shafts, propshaft, exhaust, harnesses, 15" wheels, fire system. Halda.
The car was entered in three events in '05 'to run in' and promptly took two firsts and a second. Since then it has not competed due to other projects.
With only one other known competition Aceca 2.6, this car would be welcomed at hill climbs or the recently proposed 50s/60s GT Historic race class and comes with spares such as original steering gear, deep sump and guard. FIA HTP.
Equally at home as a fast road car, the coupe version of the Ace (one could say the father of the Daytona), provides a sporting drive in the '50s tradition.
BPB's new owner will certainly have something individual.
Full photo record of rebuild plus £100k bills.
