Hupmobile Tourer now RESERVED until 23 March..... SOLD (1911) | | |
| | A 1911 Hupmoblie 20 Tourer. This is same model that first was driven around the world. Four cylinder total loss drip oil system, two gears and rear wheel brakes. Lots of patina and elegance. Some police forces in USA used these. This car was imported some years ago but at the time not registered. It was, I am told used on a private estate only, part of a collection. Purchased by me 3 years ago, re-commissioned, it passed its MOT registered and was used only one season. Now on SORN. Due to a bad back which cannot hand start cars, which I optimistically thought would get better it is now very reluctantly for sale. This one can kick a bit.
A nicely patinated car with original button back seats ( the drivers has minor rips) Brass headlights (acetylene) and side light. A bulb horn and a compression whistle fitted. The chassis is good, as is the steering. The brakes are back wheels only. The foot brake needs a lot of pressure but the hand back works well. The engine is good and pulls well. It smokes a bit but can be adjusted as the oil drip feed is too fast. The coach work is good , but paint has aged a bit. No rust holes. The hood is old but OK as are the tyres.
A part exchange is possible for a usable Riley Pathfinder/2.6 or a Wolseley 6/90.
