Jensen Healey JH5 SOLD (1976) | | |
| | This is a Late rubber bumper Jensen Healey with the Getrag 5 speed gearbox, Hence JH5, she is taxed and MOT'd and drives well.
I got her last year for my 50th birthday but the wife hates it, the drives bad for it and I really don't use it enough.
I've quietly been doing bits to it and going over previous bodges, it's had a new coil and ignition parts (previous owner really bodged this bit and cut out the ballast resistor) oil change, cooling system flush, new radiator, new electronic fuel pump (correct part from Martin Robey) basically bits to get her running well so i can enjoy her.
The car drives well and is pretty good fun and always puts a smile on your face, and the sound of the engine is fabulous!
Bodywise she's ok no gaping holes but she's not concourse or close to it, originally yellow, someone has painted her Black a long time ago with the finish being average. She still looks the part though and is still on the road driving where many others are not.
If you want a car to have a bit of fun in and enjoy the pleasure of driving then come and take a look, if you want concourse look eleswhere and pay £6-8000.
Interior is tidy, she starts straight away, I think the exhaust is stainless, hood is reasonable and fits well enough, there's a tonneau cover and a hardtop for her.
One of the last of her kind and much better than the common MGB, quality, racing pedigree engine and as much fun as an E type for a fraction of the cost, what more could you want! Oh yes a summer with weather to enjoy her, not much chance there then, still you have to try.
Personally I dont want to part with her, but realistically if I go anywhere it's on my own, took the wife out in her last Saturday, glorious sunny day, five miles to a local pub and the wifes dressed up like 'Nora Batty' saying things like why cant we go in the 'Rover' at least thats got a roof! Sometimes you've just got to concede defeat, hence the sale.
