1958 VW Split Screen EZ Camper SOLD | | |
| | Stunning 1958 EZ Splitscreen Camper. Extremely straight bus, very solid indeed. Lowered with radar alloys. I've had it since it was imported from California around 4 years and have had extensive work carried out. Generally cosmetic as it was such a solid honest van. I've had seatbelts fitted throughout and given it a facelift on the outside. I have also had polished safaris fitted and a 12v/240v fridge put in place of the original cool box to make modern camping for long periods more practical. It is extremely reliable and is stored in a dry garage and has only dry miles on it, unless caught in the odd brief shower. I just don't use it enough to warrant keeping it in the garage and polishing it every few weeks. It is the more desirable split with the small rear window and the bullet indicators. It has a full MOT and taxed through to May 2013 so ready to go for the summer. Tax is of course free and the insurance is very cheap classic insurance. The MOT runs until July 2013 but because it's pre 1960 as from the October it will not need another MOT again due to a change in motoring policy. The interior is believed to have been put in around 1961 and is totally original other than the fridge exchange. The front seat is the original 1958 humpback bench seat. The interior is in surprisingly good condition considering being over 50 years old and the rock and roll bed is supremely comfortable. This is a very rare bus and in top condition. The drive is very smooth and comfortable. Overall she is a beautiful bus and we will be very sad to see her go.
