Mercedes 300sl For Sale (1988) | | |
| A beautiful 300sl that honours mercedes benz tradition of refinement & engineering excellence. An evolution of the timeless pagoda roof mercedes of the 60s... its dynamic elegance & luxurious comfort rolled into one. A pleasure to drive with the top down or the hard top in place for extra refinement. This Sl has the beautiful white colour with the grey interior arguably the best colour combination. The transmission is smooth (rubber seals & auxillary pumps replaced in 09). The engine has never skipped a beat & the straight six is silky smooth. The main options specified on this car are the rear seats & AIR CONDITIONING.
Mechanically the car is very sound. It has full service history. The transmission was overhauled in 2009 .. new pumps & seals. 2011 the lower half of the car was repainted professionally & new chrome rear bumper & various miscellaneous chrome strips replaced to highlight the beauty of this car. The interior leather seats are in great condition.
This benz was originally purchased by myself in 2008 from a reputable independent mercedes dealer in birmingham. Its life began in Singapore (right hand drive as the uk) in Dec 1988 where it covered approx 30k miles in 10 yrs. It was shipped over by the dealer in 98 where its floor was wax oiled before it was exposed to the harsh winters of the uk. The floor pan is A1 with no sign of rust as it has been treated several times over the years. This is one of the main reasons i originally purchased this car ... trying to find a uk car with a solid floor plan... hens' teeth....
I have the service record book, owners manual, v5 & also a brochure. There is also the detachable hardtop thats virtually like new. All mot certificates have been kept including invoices in my possession & 'job cards' of previous work undertaken by the independent dealer. This truly is a great drive... wouldnt say concourse but very close & a car that i regularly use. So forgive the extra miles that i may accumulate since i placed this ad. This is a summer vehicle that truly stands out from the crowd. Any inspection welcome.
