1973 Ford Escort Mk 1.
Stunning Rust Free Shell.
This Escort started life as a 1300E and was registered in May 1973 hence the square headlamps and wooden glove box.
In 2007 the car was discovered in a garage after being unused since 1990. It had a full body strip to bare metal and recieved new sills and a full 2 pack repaint in Ermine White.
It has covered about 5,000 documented miles since it was put back on the road in November 2007.There is no rust on the body and the shell is in remarkable original condition with all the original panels apart from sills.
It has had many new parts fitted including the following;
Kenlowe Fan.
Cobra Monaco ‘S’ seats.
Luke Harnesses. 3 point quick release.
Springalex steering wheel.
6 pod dash.
Filter King.
Milton Strut Brace.
Electronic Ignition.
Fire Extinguisher.
Full factory fitted Webasto sunroof with wind deflector.
1700cc Crossflow engine [ 711M block] with twin 40 Weber carburettors. Big valve head with stainless steel valves.
The engine has been ported, polished and balanced and was originally built for the Chairman of Piper Cams.
Peter Lloyd exhaust system.
Group 1 Escort rally struts with roller tops, New Gaz adjustable dampers. Capri 145lbs springs.
Stainless steel bullet mirror. Stainless front bumpers.
175x65x13 excellent tyres on Revolution alloys.
2 spare wheels and tyres.
New Battery.
Navigators footrest and drivers heel plate.
It has some bills, some MOT’s going back to 1976, a handbook and the correct chassis plate with the V5 and original transferable registration number.
It is badged as a Twincam on the front wings [ it has the same square headlights ] which it is not , but this can easily be changed if one wishes.
It is taxed until September 2012 and MOT’d until February 27th 2013.
It runs smoothly and handles well. The bodywork has no rust just a few minor paint blemishes where some stickers were removed.
