Kawasaki S3 Restoration Project

The S3 was probably the best all round triple that Kawasaki produced, offering as it does a good blend of performance, weight and handling. This particular example is an early, matching numbers 1974 model year S3, finished in the correct Candy Red with 1974 ‘chainsaw’ shaped tank graphic.
This particular S3 is clearly in need of a complete restoration. There are a number of parts that are missing. The seat, while in place, will need replacement the base has rotted away.
The engine does kick over and has good compression and the gears select. The tank is clean inside and while the paint is poor and there are a few dinks the paint set is perfectly useable. The original air box and carburettors are still present and appear to be in good shape.
The front mudguard is solid and remarkably clean but does have a couple of small scrapes on the front. The wheel rims are the original Takasago rims and in decent condition. The rear brake is working but the front has long since lost all of its fluid.
While this is a bike that will need full restoration and new parts will definitely need to be sourced, in general unless I have said otherwise the parts that are present appear to be useable in my opinion. As ever with a project machine of this type it is far better to examine the bike in person and complete your own assessment. If this is not possible, we will happily answer any questions, talk you around the bike over the phone and provide any more detailed pictures that you require.
