AUSTIN BIG SEVEN SIXLITE SOLD (1938) | | |
| | This black Austin Big Seven 4 door saloon was in regular use up to 2008 even completing Lands End to John O'Groats rally. In 2008 the long time owner became too ill to drive and unfortunately passed away some time later. Car has been in secure dry storage since 2008 but its time for it to find a new loving home. Looks to be 99% complete and working order , starts first time on the button and drives good with surprisingly torquey engine but due to no MOT we havn't taken it on a long run. These cars will do over 50mph and over 30mpg . Chassis is very good condition, requires no welding and the body just needs cosmetic attention in places . Speedo shows 50,000 miles which looks to be genuine as it corresponds to the MOTs . In November this will become MOT exempt , road tax is free and insurance would be very cheap , probably less than £100 per year for the average motorist. Comes with a folder of history , old MOTs etc and new style V5C showing transferable reg as DUO 159 . we have taken the car for a MOT and it has only failed on a thew minor faults. the headlights are not bright enough(bad earth), the number plate lights are not bright enough due to plasic faded so needs new plastic and the rear passanger brake needs attention not alot of work for someone who knows what they are doing.
