1991 Maserati 228 Black For Sale on Car And Classic UK

Here is my Maserati 228 from 1991 for sale. I have owned it for about four years and loved almost every minute, it is Italian so has its foibles! The MOT runs until 23rd September 2008 and it is taxed until the end of July 2008. It starts well and runs smoothly and of course, when wanted, it is very fast. The 0-60 mph figure is just 5.5 seconds and the top speed approaches 150 mph although that has not been tested by me. Mileage shows as just over 40,000 but the true figure will be more. Inside there is the usual leather, walnut and the gold Lasalle clock and there is an electric sunroof. The engine is a 2.8 twin turbo V6 giving 255bhp through a four speed auto box. Now the honesty bits. Although the bodywork is undented there are bubbles along the bottom of the two doors, near the mirror on the doors and a small patch on the roof. The paintwork is not as bright as it was and could probably benefit from some T-Cut treatment. Most of the interior is good for a 16 year old car but there are small areas that might benefit from some TLC. Electrics on many Italian cars can be a problem and this car did have some faults however most have been fixed over the years and only two points remain. First is the usual Maserati 'bouncy' speedometer which should be fixed by the removal and cleaning of the wire contact at the gearbox. I just never got round to it. Second is the immobiliser I had fitted when I bought the car. Very occasionally it needs a few attempts to unlock the system although having said that this hasn't been a problem for a while but thought I would mention it. The boot lid doesn't stay up as one of the gas struts has failed, I use an old African carved stick and that never fails! In my view it is a perfectly usable car which is luxurious, fast and quite rare but with a bit of TLC could be excellent.
