RARE STAG WHITE WITH RED INTERIOR 47'000 MILES SOLD (1971)
|Triumph Stag MFT 666K – Registered 10 November 1971|
This rare Stag is one of only 25 manufactured with a white body and red upholstery, and with only 9000 Stags left on the UK roads is therefore somewhat unique. The registration number is also quite notable. The car drives and handles superbly and has no issues, the temperature gauge sits bob on mile after mile.
Original engine, automatic, electronic ignition, electric windows, runs on unleaded and is tax exempt. It has a hard top and the hood is in good condition to the point that the rear window zip still works. Only 47'000 miles from new with MOT's to show.
Taken “off road” in 1986 (MOT mileage 39,612), for substantial renovation. All corroded body parts replaced/repaired prior to a bare metal re spray with seams and edges mig welded, zinc coated, spot welded, filled and finished in body solder (written evidence available).
All body compartments wax oiled and hollow sections pumped full of wax oil, drained and any holes plugged.
Original engine dismantled and rebuilt with head skimmed/reconditioned and oil pump, chains, tensioner, bearings, gaskets, seals, hoses etc replaced (written evidence available).
Steering Rack overhauled with seals etc. replaced. Reconditioned radiator fitted.
Brakes overhauled and stainless steel exhaust fitted.
Car obtained MOT 9 February 1990 and has passed all MOT’s since then. (MOT certificates available). The last MOT in June 2012.
Some 5 or 6 years ago, the rear wing was scuffed while working on the car. To avoid any colour mismatch it had the whole body re-sprayed and at the same time had Mk2 coach lines added.
Other work done includes (receipts mostly available):
September 1999 - Carburettors balanced and tuned.
October 2003 – Automatic gear box overhauled.
July 2006 – Coil springs and shock absorbers replaced.
July 2008 – Carburettor needles replaced and mixture reset.
May 2011 – Rear shock absorbers and battery (re located in boot) replaced.
July 2011 – Starter motor overhauled and electronic ignition power module replaced.
April 2012 – Both door window motors were replaced.
It has a wood and rivet Moto Lita steering wheel which is quite in keeping but the original can be supplied for the purists if required .... also a set of highly polished stainless sills are available which have never been fitted as I could not bring myself to drill holes in the car. The radio is not original but I have this if required.
A FOLDER FULL OF PAPERWORK HISTORY AND MOT'S.
THIS CAR IS 41 YEARS OLD AND AS SUCH IS NOT CONCOURSE. BUT IF CLASSIC SHOWS ARE YOUR THING IT HAS A GREAT PATINA AND IS A DEFINITE 8.5 OUT OF 10.
IF FULL ASKING PRICE IS MET THE CAR WILL COME WITH 12 MONTHS MOT.
