|Vintage 1921- 550cc Triumph single cylinder.|
Flat tank model with Girders fork.
This is a 4 stroke side valve, 3 speed hand change, with chain drive.
All parts are matching from the original motorcycle, as engine & frame numbers, gear box, etc, restored from the original standard form.
SIDE CAR…..As far as I could search, this is a Glory type side car, 100% original as is.
The whole body is wood made as new as when factory made, black painted & gold lined, seat and interior sides panels are Leather, 100% original also, Lucas lamp again as from Factory (not original is the suitcase on rear support).
The combination has been meticulous restored 25 years ago or more, and any part was 100% reconditioned & nicely done with all her original correct features / details, like ML magneto, correct twin barrel carb, three “LUCAS” acetyléne lamps, one very rare on this condition is fitted on the front (look at the little brush inside to clean the flame hole, it also as Lucas inscription), correct levers, correct painted & lined wheels with period tires, Brooks saddle, side leather tool boxes, etc, etc, etc.
The engine is sweet, and this has only recently run out to test after a 25 years of kept in a climate show room.
Please, note that all the metal parts, are Cadmium plated correctly for the era, in a 100% condition as from factory ! All they seem to have been new from a n.o.s.,
but in fact, they where in a perfect shape condition, so they where quite easly restored to the original std.
Only Portuguese documents with byke, because this cames from a Portugal collector. So, will need to be registred on a new V5 to use it on the road, but this should be a easy process as it still retains all the original numbers stamped on correct places, and so ready to Mot.
final comment for both motorcycle & sidecar combination…
if some judge will give it 100 points in a competition, second place will have no more than 95 !
In fact, this combination will win any elegance concours or period ralye, as shis not only a absolutely geme piece to display, but she also runs properly and also better then new, as the oil pump was also up-grated inside ! Sorry if I sound cocky, but I collect bikes for many years, and I know when a piece is really special, and this is it.
Motorcycle is located now in Portugal, but more two weeks, and she may be in London for sale on Ebay.
