DAIMLER 250 V8 ONLY 36350 MILES BENSON & HEDGES CONCOURS SOLD (1966)
|Probably the finest Daimler 250 V8 you are ever likely to find. A 3 owner car with a genuine 36,000 miles from new, in original unrestored condition.|
Privious Benson & Hedges concour car. Fantastic history file.
Supplied new by Appleyard of Leeds LTD on 19th July 1966 to a Mrs Thelma Henderson also of Leeds. The car was then maintain by Appleyard for the next 20 years up to 31,600 miles. On the death of Thelma's husband Charlie the car was sold to Mr David Hull a garage proprietor who kept it a further 3 years. Entering it in to various concour events including the famous Benson & Hedges contest. There is a lovely but very sad note written by Mrs Henderson in the file which reads as follows:-
"I am James. I was born on 25 July 1966. until I was 19 years old, I was lovingly care for by Charles and Thelma. I travelled 32,000 miles with them, mostly in the lovely countryside of the English Lake District and Scotland. We enjoyed a very happy life together.
Sadly for Thelma, in July 1985, Charlie went home to god. Unfortunately Thelma could not look after me in the way I had been used to, and so she sold me to Mr Hull because she knew he would care for me.
Now I sincerely hope I will give Mr and Mrs Hull and their friends as much pleasure as I gave Thelma and Charlie"
Eventually the Daimler changed hands again and remained with a Mr Richardons an advanced pilot trainer (now deceased) for the next 23 years. Always kept in a heated garage the Daimler is as good today as its ever been. How a car can remain in such original condition but look and drive as it did when it left the factory 47 years ago is a miracle
Recently recommissioned the car is now ready for the next chapter of its life and comes with a fantastic history file, original sales brochures, service book, handbook, service manual, original key fob and Appleyard tax disc holder, tools, tailor made dust cover etc and 12 months mot.
'Timewarp condition' is a much abused term in classic car circles, but this Daimler fully justifies the term and must surely be one of the finest original low mileage examples you could ever wish to find
