1960 Mercedes-Benz 220SE For SaleWith the pontoon body series Mercedes-Benz began its evolution into modern, up to date, design in the mid-50's. The 220 gained Bosch mechanical fuel injection in 1959, raising the output of its 2195cc single overhead cam inline six-cylinder engine to 130 brake horsepower. More than a boulevardier, the 220SE accommodated four people comfortably with room for their luggage in the trunk, would easily exceed 100mph and was capable of cruising comfortably all day at 70mph. This 1960 Mercedes-Benz 220SE Cabriolet is a recent restoration by LaVine. Finished in cream with saddle leather upholstery, matching top boot cover and brown German cloth top, a subtle and mature livery that complements the ponton body with its minimal chrome accents. The interior wood is show quality, all the glass and body rubber are new and the paint and chrome are exceptional. Power is taken from the 220SE engine to the rear wheels through a column-shifted 4-speed manual transmission and it is equipped with a Becker Mexico radio, clock, color coded wheel covers, new bias ply whitewall tires and fog lights. The trunk contains the correct spare wheel and tire, jack and wheel wrench. The interior wood is especially notable for its deep, rich finish and attractive grain. The 220SE is a quality automobile, and this is a quality example.
