Carrera 4 Cabriolet Barons, Sandown Park-25th February 2014 For Sale by Auction (1992)In 1989 Porsche once again demonstrated that the 911 was truly immortal by introducing the new Carrera 4. The preceding years had been tough for Porsche, and Carrera 4 was an important step the recovery of Porsche. Sales had collapsed due to a lack of long-term vision in the mid-eighties. The 911 Carrera 4 (964) was the car that had to bring Porsche back on the track. To do that Porsche did something new: the design department was given complete freedom to design a new 911.
The result was a car that was 85% new compared to the Carrera 3.2. The engine's capacity was once again further increased, now to 3.6 litres. But the most important new feature was the four-wheel drive system. This was one of the many aspects that was carried over from Porsche's exclusive supercar, the 959.
This example of the penultimate Air Cooled 911 has covered just 53, 700 warranted miles, which is supported by Full and recent Porsche service history and stamped maintenance book.
