I replaced the cars radio with a radio cassette however I still have the original Voxson '8' track / radio set. Which would go with the car.
Original steering wheel replaced with smaller diam one. But original steering wheel retained and to go with vehicle
The car drives well and I use it on a regular basis for work. No overheating
I have been a reasonably active member of the JOC since purchasing the car in 2002 and for personal reasons now (unwillingly) I need to sell the car
Bad points:
1. Heater hot water is operated using manual valve in engine compartmet
2. Carpets
3. Patina leather but now with some splits.
4. Some cracks in the paint and passenger side door bottom rusted.
5. Chrome overriders peeling
6. Cracked wood finish in dashboard.
Some recent questions and answers:
Q. Hi, I really like the look of the car and I can see from jensenff.co.uk that you have spent a lot of time on it. The body work appears to be suffering from what you say. How bad is it, particularly the bottom of the door?
A. I have tried to be as honest as I can and the cars body work is actually OK. There aren’t any rusted through areas except for the one door bottom. The cracks are, I am told where the old filler used when the car was repainted have cracked due to age. The bodywork isn’t rusted beneath. The car is very solid underneath and on top it is just cosmetic in my opinion. As the website was not set up to sell the car it paints the complete picture. I could have had some work done on the body to hide any faults but that isn’t my style. As far as the door goes it is as the picture shows rusted along the bottom. However, one really need to come and see the car.
Q. What is the “list” you keep talking about and why are you selling?
A. The Jensen list is an international forum for Jensen owners. It has been going for some years now and has proved immensely useful to me. To join follow the following link for the Jensen-cars mailing list. Subscribe and unsubscribe info at: <http://www.british-steel.org/faq/jensen-cars.html>.
As for your second question. They are personal reasons. But I would add that I do not want to sell the car and the website was set up to act as a workshop manual for myself that others might be interested in and represents a true and honest snapshot of the car now being sold. I am happy that there is nothing hidden about this car and whoever buys should know exactly what they are getting
Q. What’s it like to drive?
A. Fine. As close to a modern day car as you will get I think with ABS, power steering and four wheel drive. It drives happily on the motorway and I do not stay in the inside lane! It feels good to motor along overtaking and using the car as it should be used. It’s a great feeling driving that car and seeing the surprise and envy on the faces of people you pass. Brett
