| 1986 525e for spares or repair For Sale (C47319) | | | Not for Sale - it has been Sold via Car and Classic | | BMW 525e (economy engine)2.7 litre Auto. 128000miles. Serviced about a month ago (new plugs, oil etc) then failed MOT. New company car means i can't really justify the cost of keeping her but this really is a suprisingly fun car to drive. Perfect for cruising around town, the economy engine was designed to compensate for the sudden increase in fuel costs back in the seventies so not as expensive to run as you might think. I've used her every day for the past year to commute (prior to company car) and in the evenings and i've never had a single problem. Bit of a kick on the gearbox, heating tempremental, could do with two new tyres. Main issue is the welding which involves removing the subframe. Garage quoted me between £300-£400 but if you can do it yourself or know someone who can then i reckon it's worth it. Apart from this i think she needed a couple of bushes and one headlight realigned. That's it. Bodywork fine, no rust on the wings etc. She's also had a new battery about six months ago. I'll be sad to say goodbye but even if she's broken at least she lives on in some way!
