This car has undergone a £60,000 restoration, it is completely brand new in every way shape and form. It has been done as close to the origional specifacation as possible or practical, however some details have been improved such as the gaps in the panels and chrome fittings, these have been painstakingly fettled to be perfectly semetrical all over the car (unlike the origionals on the SL s that tend to be a bit hit and miss)also the exhaust is an exact copy of the origional(2 pipes from manifold to backbox)but in stainless steel, this sounds exactly as it was designed to.
The engine was completely re-built inside and out, every part is polished and sparkling and is a joy to look at. The body shell was completely stripped of all panels,nuts, bolts etc. and shot blasted with a small hand held gun to get into every possible area (this took several days as aposed to hours) then the panels were added and fettled into perfect alinement. The underneath of the car was sealed using a very expensive two part compound that is resilient to all conditions and will not chip or peel.
The paintwork is of the very highest standard and was painstakingly rubbed down between coats to give a magnificent finish. The interia has been completely re-fitted with the very best red leather available and is about to have a Becker Mexico Radio/sat nav system fitted. All other accessories have been replaced Ie. windscreen,chromes,soft top,steering wheel etc.
This car has been built to be the very best example of the Pagoda mercedes on the road today.
To date it has only covered about 100 miles since the 3 year restoration was completed in May.
The car is currently at Silchester Garage in Berkshire in there showroom.
