Bitter cars were produced in Germany by Erich Bitter with support from General Motors. Aimed at the Middle Eastern market and hugely expensive when new (over £30,000 in 1982), they were handbuilt to a very high standard, combining almost unequalled exclusivity and style with good performance from the smooth fuel-injected 3-litre engine, supreme ride comfort and reasonable maintenance and running costs.
Surprisingly good fuel consumption figures can easily be obtained and parts are readily available from Bitter/GM Opel specialists.
