Daimler Double Six 1989 For Sale (1989)



This Daimler was MOTd until 12 months ago and I bought it April this year with the intention of refurbishing it and putting it on my fleet of self drive and wedding hire classics (www.summerwineclassics.co.uk). I started to collect the spares it needs but then an opportunity came along to buy some 1960s cars from a collector. These cars also need attention and I now do not have the time or cash to carry out the work needed to get the Daimler back on the road. It would not take a great deal of work to get this fabulous car looking good and through an MOT. Alternatively, it could be stripped down and sold off for spares and the remainder scrapped (scrap values are currently high and buyers collect!). GOOD POINTS Engine and transmission perfectly OK. Car starts and moves around and stops. A road test on trade plates when I bought it proved it's in good mechanical order (and fast!) New air conditioning compressor Fabulous interior Excellent set of Kent alloy wheels Both tanks work! Known history for much of its life. Owned by Jaguar specialists for many years BAD POINTS Some tyres will need replacing Corrosion underneath caused its MOT failure last year - but quite 'do-able'. Nothing horrendous Front wings corroded (these could be patched up but I have a pair of good second hand replacements and also a new OS wing) Rear wheel arches need work (I have a pair of repair sections) Rear under valance corroded (again, I have replacements) Veneer lifting slightly on centre console Rust on trailing edge of OS passenger door (behind the window) In a nutshell - the car needs these corrosion issues sorting out and a respray but is mechanically sound. You are bidding on the car as it stands. If you want to restore the car I will sell the new wings and repair sections separately for a good price.
