| MGA 1600 Coupe £8000 For Sale (1959) edit C52565 | | | Introduced in 1955 as the much-awaited replacement for the TF Series Midget, the MG A was every inch a sports car in the modern idiom. Here at last was an MG able to compete in the appearance stakes with Austin Healey 100, Triumph TR2 and Jaguar XK140. Powered by the BMC ‘B’ Series 1½-litre engine in twin carburettor form developing a healthy 72bhp, the MGA was both lively and sure-footed.
From 1956 a fixed head coupé version was introduced which was also to prove very popular and it is a 1959 example of this model that is offered here. Finished in Chariot Red with black trim, the car’s late owner was a keen MGCC member and the vehicle is said to have had just four former owners and is understood to be in good order throughout and to have won condition awards in the past.
Always a rewarding car to drive, the MGA, as with all MGs, benefits from excellent club support and offers the opportunity to participate in numerous events, and this example is offered with documentation which includes a V5C and a recently renewed MOT certificate.
