1978 Spartan Roadster Triumph Based SOLD
COMPLETE WITH HOOD AND SIDE SCREENS.
The V5 is in my Name at my address. It is registered as an 'Antaki' on the V5, and has a Spartan built chassis.
Since I bought it a few years ago, it has been completely rewired and converted to halogen and LED lighting, and an outrageous amount of work running into hundreds of hours to perfect the mechanical bits. Hundreds of pictures have been taken of every stage, hand crafted aluminium panels replace the roughly cut wooden originals. The seats have been lowered and will accommodate someone who is 6ft tall, wipers and wiper angles changed, engine bay overspray removed, windscreen refitted, all electrical systems renovated or replaced and the custom wiring loom that replaces the old and very messy kit car loom has nylon spiral wrap around the cables and then encased in heat shrink tubing identical to that used in the London underground system (heat, flame and UV proof).
I redesigned the indicator system from scratch, indicators are 3 Watt LED's and the controller is electronic. The hazards now use a single pole switch to activate which I felt was more efficient as it uses lots less wire but is slightly more complex in design. All lamps and electrical devices have independant wiring, none are connected in parallel. This was done originally to be able to electronically control them for testing purposes.
Full details of the electrical system will be supplied, although it has been designed to be intuitive. Fuel and temperature gauges work properly and are backlit, new fuel pump and pipes, new belts fitted and a CD stereo temporarily tacked to the central console until such time as the new dashboard is ready... The rear fitted speakers are waterproof and the space behind them (for tools, battery etc.) acts as a huge speaker cabinet.
Tyres are good and wheels in great condition. Any nuts, bolts, screws, screw cups, washers and such that have been changed have been replaced with stainless steel. The floor is marine grade pressure treated ply and most of the rest of the vehicle is aluminium including the battery box and tool area. The runners are fibreglass and there is no sign of rust anywhere at all, except for the exhaust manifold and downpipe which is normal due to heating.
New cloth seats and standard seatbelts have been fitted. It has always been garaged when not used.

It has been driven around the country only in good weather, has been a very good runner and has been used on regular trips. Made it to Newark and back last year without incident. If you intend to drive it away, I would nevertheless recommend a toolkit and some knowledge just in case! The sparkplugs are the right colour and dry, the coolant circulates well and the engine never overheats. All fuel and brake lines are in great condition and all hydraulics are fine with no fluid leaks.
Engine has been upgraded to a Triumph 2500 with twin SU carbs, is very clean and complete, overdrive unit works well and is switched from the gearstick, new oil and fuel filters, alternator, excellent battery and starts easily from cold.
The dashboard is a wooden 'get you by' but looks great.
The original paint job is good from a distance yet a bit orange peely close up. I didn't do it!
The hood needs a locking mechanism to the windscreen, other than that it fits everywhere else. The hood is in excellent condition without tears or holes and is included with a storing/ carrying briefcase. The removable sliding windows that fit to the doors are included. I have never driven it with the hood as the car doesn't go out in bad weather.
It is perfectly driveable as is, although could do with a professional tune and carb balance, I've done a reasonable job.
Original build manual and plans, wiring details, CD of all pictures detailing work done and all paperwork and parts receipts will be included. Also included are the original service manuals for the donor vehicles (Triumph 2000 (running gear), Herald, GT6 and Midget) which are probably worth a small fortune on their own. Some donated parts (such as from the Midget) are simply windscreen wiper mechanisms or light fittings.
