| TVR Taimar rare colour and Wolfrace wheels SOLD (1980) C57788 | | | Not for sale - it has been sold via a Car and Classic Free Ad | | Reluctantly I am selling my TVR Taimar registered 01/04/1980 originally in gold but resprayed several years ago in metallic silver.
I have owned the car since 01/05/2003 and it has only covered just over 5000 miles in 5 years hence the sale really as it is not getting used apart from regular starting, a 4 month old baby has also put a different slant on things and I have had to buy a car with 4 doors.
The car has always been garaged in my ownership and the body work is in good overall condition, no rust to worry about as it is fibreglass. The car also has the extra cost optional Wolfrace alloy wheels which look great on the car.
As can be seen in the picture there is a small amount of damage to the front fibreglass bumper but can easily be repaired, also there is a small amount of crazing of the fibreglass by one of the front headlights.
Mileage is 68,900 which I believe to be genuine but only have MOT's from 2002 at 63k miles.
New MOT last week and 6 months tax remaining.
The engine does run on Unleaded but needs an additive, I use Castrol Valvemaster plus which works out at 4p a litre to use and protect the egine valves.
In 2003 the rear box section of the chassis was rebuilt so no problems with rusting, the radiator was recored and the heater matrix also rebuilt to a new standard, a new starter motor was also installed 4000 miles ago which is a nightmare to fit so an added bonus. Work performed on the front suspension in 2006 and 4 weeks ago new plugs, points,condenser and new battery fited so it starts well!
Temperature gauge and oil pressure spot on, the Taimar does have an opening rear hatch which functions fine from the hiden button in the door pillar.
All in all this is a reliable TVR and 1 of only 395 Taimars made, it makes a gorgeous noise from the Ford V6 3 Litre Essex engine and provides plenty of torque.
