| Lincoln Premiere 2 door coupe SOLD (1957) C62698 | | | Not for sale - it has been sold via a Car and Classic Free Ad | | Due to unforseen circumstances I now need to sell my Lincoln.
It is the only 1957 2 door coupe in this country.
It has picked up a trophy at every show it's been to.
The car has done a verifiable 52,000 miles from new, has had only 4 owners in total from new and comes with an extensive history.
This car was in the Cartier Style et Luxe at last years Goodwood festival of speed where I received hundreds of compliments about it.
According to a letter from an American Lincoln club it is the oldest 57 model surviving, having an exceptionally low chassis number and an August 56 build date.
The history even details which main dealer and sub dealer sold the car new!
The original dealer key fob, the handbook, workshop manual, parts book, sales brochures etc are all with it, along with letters from previous owners to verify the mileage.
At one point in its life only 1000 miles were covered in a 25 year period.
I bought the car in early 2006 and carried out an extensive re-commisioning escercise as follows.
New brakes all round, new wide whitewall radials, all new steering components including a steering box and pump rebuild.
New battery, up-rated radiator, all hoses, water pump, all ignition parts, totally hidden electric rad fan and even a new foam cushion for the front seat.
I wanted the car to be totally reliable before I started to use it, it has been!!
It will always start, it has never overheated, loses no water and has so little oil loss for an old car that it almost is too good to be true.
Not only is the car rare but it has a host of extras making it even more unusual, air con, 6 way power seat, self seek radio, self dipping headlamps, even the little quarter light windows are electric!
The car drives without fault, steers beautifully, stops on a sixpence (I know from an emergency stop I had to do!!)and cruises happily at 70 mph.
The car is largely original and any work carried out has been to original specification. It has not been restored, just re-commissioned because that was all it needed.
There is an MOT until well into next year and it is taxed (free).
Fuel consumption is far better than you would expect and classic insurance costs peanuts.
I have used it for a couple of friends prom nights and a wedding, it was really well received.
This is not your usual tired old Yank, it is a proper low mileage example that can be used immediately with every confidence.

Today, October 10th I have used the car for chauffeuring duties at a friends wedding. It started immediately, behaved faultlessly and was loved by bride, groom, photographer and guests. Even people passing us on the motorway were taking pictures on their mobile phones!
You can attend car shows in this car and be confident you will have the only one there.
Parts are no problem and are not expensive, a pair of front shockers including delivery and import duty were less the fifty pounds. The oil filter still fits current vehicles so is available from almost any UK motor factor and the points and condenser are so cheap that I have 3 of each bought as spares.
