| Ford Consul Mark 2 For Sale (1958) edit C66159 | | | 1958 Ford consul Mk 2. Featured in Custom Car March 2003. I bought it shortly after.
2 doored and hard topped, nosed decked and shaved.
2.9 V6 from a 4x4 Sierra without the fuel injection. Now running a Weber 38 carb. Took a while to set up right but we are there now.
Ford C3 auto box.
Ford Mustang 8 inch rear axle. Narrowed, running Moser half shafts and Ford Zodiac Mk4 drums.
Mk 5 Cortina front end. Narrowed.
Panther EMR108 Alloys. 10X15 rear, 8x15 front.
Many new parts.....
Radiator,
Carb,
Dizzy, coil and module,
Discs and calipers,
Lowered and uprated springs,
Gaz adjustable front shocks,
Steering rack,
Urethane bushes.
Unfortunately also needed new sills hence the primer. I took the opportunity to address a few paint bubbles round the arches while I was at it. My intention is to paint the bottom half white with silver flake to match the roof but thought I would advertise it as is first as someone may want to respray the whole car.
I will also be making a stainless tube front grill in the next week or so.
The only other bad point, apart from the paint, is the rear diff is a bit tired. It whines a bit and has a bit of play in it which causes a slight clunk as you slow down and it drops into first.
Great little car that can and has been used daily. Seems to have universal appeal, boy racers, old boys "who used to have one just like that", all seem to like it.
No tax and long MOT
