1959 DKW RT200 VS SOLD

I have several bikes and, as always, time is an issue, so I have decided to thin out the collection. The DKW starts well, runs well and feels very smooth. All the controls work well and are smooth in operation. It is currently on SORN. A new battery has been fitted. The seat is excellent and very comfortable, having been re-covered by a previous owner. The paintwork is generally fairly good but improvable. Mudguards, tool box, battery box, fuel tank are all in sound condition. There is one photo with the carburettor covers removed to show the carb and air filter. The alloy carb covers are in good condition. The wheels are in good condition but not perfect. Front tyre is excellent, rear half worn. The horn and all lights work well. However, the charging light is staying on with the engine running. The right hand engine cover (over the dynamo etc) is cracked and slightly distorted (see photo). This is a dry cover ie it does not need to seal against the crankcases to hold oil.
There are a few spares that go with the bike, plus a photocopied owners manual and a parts list. Spares are available from a supplier in Germany. These bikes are well engineered and very popular on the continent, but less well known and quite rare in the UK. The DKW does not require an MOT being pre 1960, and is zero rate road tax. Located near Chichester, West Sussex.

The bike is tidy enough to be ridden in it's current condition or, being complete and running, would be excellent for total restoration. Located near Chichester, West Sussex.
