| Sierra XR4i ONLY 35k! For Sale (1984) edit C66773 | | | An excellent example of a totally original Sierra XR4i. This is not a car that you will come across everyday, especially in this condition. In its day this was the fastest Sierra in the Ford range.
The car has only covered 35000 miles from new and is in superb condition. I believe it is possibly the best in the UK.
This is now a very rare car as most tend to rust into nothing.
If you know your XR4i's you'll know all the places theses cars tend to rust. This example has absolutely no rust! The usual places are the sills, arches and below the spoiler and these are all spotless. The only marks on the body work are a few stone chips in the front of the car and a mark on the bottom of the bonnet, this is the worst mark - see photo.
The car has been recently waxoyled and cleaned in 'Sureclean', Northern Irelands top valet centre.
The interior is as new and is probably the most impressive thing about this car. There is no wear on either of the seats, again see the photo. What stands the this car out from any other though is the fact that there is no cracking in the front dash! Money cannot buy a new dash these days and I have never seen another XR4i with no cracking. I'm led to believe the cracking is caused by the sun warming and cooling the plastic so the car has always been garaged.
The 2.8l V6 engine is completely standard and is in perfect working order, smooth, as you'd expect from a V6 and pulls in any gear. It has never been messed with or given any silly aftermarket upgrades.
The car also has the original tool kit with nothing missing (again rare for a car this age as most tool kits migrate to the owners garage) and also has the original manuals.
It is due a service, I may get this done if the car does not sell quickly, but I have already got all the parts imported from England. These include proper xr4i filters and new bushes for the entire car. Bushes don't need done but i thought I'd just buy them now so I don't have to get more sent over from England when it does need them, XR4i's tend to be hard on bushes. The previous owner also got 4 new shocks for the car but again these are not needed so I haven't bothered fitting them.
Another thing which always breaks in older Fords is the electrics but again these all work perfectly. The onboard computer includes distance to refuel, a timer, clock and an alarm to alert you when you are exceeding a speed preset by you. For a car produced in 1984 this is top of the range! It also alerts you when there is low oil, water coolant etc. There are no electric windows or sunroof in these models but they are fitted with electric mirrors which also work.
MOT is up at the end of February and 6 months tax. It'll fly through MOT though because its covered so few miles.
This is an amazing car in excellent condition. If you want more photos I can arrange to send you some through easily.
I also live 20 minutes from the International airport and 25 minutes from Belfast City airport so I can meet any buyers coming over from the mainland. Transport back to the mainland is also easy from Belfast or Newry with several sailings daily to Scotland, Holyhead etc.
