| ULTRA LOW MILES - HISTORY - SUPERB For Sale (1978) edit C67369 | | | UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN ONE OF 400 CARS EVER BUILT
Details
The 2 Door Coupe, based on the SWB S2 XJ6, was one of Sir William Lyons favourite Jaguars. The great man had more than a passing involvement in the styling and the resultant car was a beautiful, pillarless, two door Jaguar Coupe. Like many other cars of its time, it suffered from association with British Leyland and after just three years, the model was dropped from the range. In that time just 6505 Jaguar XJC 4.2, 1873 XJ5.3C, 1598 Daimler Sovereign Coupes and 399 Daimler Double Six Coupes were built. Offered here is one of the very last of the rarest Daimler Double Six Coupes, which has just 27,365 miles on the odometer and has been in the same ownership for 38 years.
Finished in Sebring red with black vinyl roof and black interior, the car is equipped with an electric sunroof, electric mirrors and special order black velour interior. It currently sits on chrome wire wheels (bolt-on) but also has the original chrome pressed wheels. The original wheels are included with the car.
It is said that this is the 5th from last example of the Coupe to be built. It has black dial surrounds and headlight mounted side lights, which, this indicates that it is one of the last.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire one of these super pillarless coupe's. With the all alloy, 5.3 litre, injected V12 under the bonnet and just 27,000 miles on the clock, the car is barely run-in. As a Daimler Double Six, it is the rarest by far and examples with this sort of provenance are even rarer.
These cars do not come on the market that often and certainly not in this condition. Only selling due to owners ill health
