| DeSoto CK 2640 Sedan-Only 8248 Made! For Sale (1930) edit C70208 | | | Up for sale is my totally awesome 1930 DeSoto CK 2640 Sedan. They only made 8,248 CK Sedans! The frame off restoration was started a few years back and the drivetrain was totally restored. The seats have been redone but the rest of the interior needs to be finished. It needs the NOS rear side windows and the NOS rear window installed. The windshield is new safety glass and all the other glass is NOS. The passenger side rear door glass has some scratches on it but I'm pretty sure they can be buffed out. The front fenders need to be worked some and painted. The new steel rear fenders need to be painted and installed. I have an unopened gallon of paint to finish it.
It has a 189.8 Cubic Inch, 3.1 L, 60 HP straight six in it with a 3-speed on the floor. The wheel base is 109". It has 4.75" x 19" Firestone tires on metal/wood spoke wheels that still have their original hub caps. It needs a little wiring and a new piece of vinyl for the top. I pressure washed the gas tank, sanded it to bare metal, and put five coats of paint on it. I also built a battery box, changed the spark plugs, spark plug wires, and all the fluids. I got it running after about 10 years in storage. I cranked it over quiet a few times, without the ignition on, to get up the oil pressure before I fired it up. It runs very well and strong but it needs brake work. The brakes were supposed to have all been replaced before it was stored but I haven't seen them yet to know for sure. The brake master cylinder is operational but there's still air in the lines and I'm working on that now. It also needs an exhaust system but I have a temporary one installed.
I've driven it around the neighborhood and that was a trip in itself to say the least! The carb acts a little weird sometimes at idle but it revs up, runs out fine, and rides very smooth. It's tight without a bunch of rattling and noises. I was using the parking brake when I had to twice but I went through all the gears and got it up to about 40 mph or so and it was stable and not all over the road either.
Buyer is responsible for any shipping and I can help with the arrangements if necessary. I will ship World Wide. The car is Guaranteed As Described and The Sale is As-Is, Where-Is, And Final.
