AUSTIN 12/4 HARLEY ~ Exceptional Condition ~ SOLD (1933)
|We acquired this wonderful 1933 Austin 12/4 Harley from a regular customer who has a small collection of classic cars all of a very high standard. We have had the pleasure of selling three of his cars in the past two years as he likes to use them for a season and then sell in order to to buy a model he has not owned before.|
Prior to his ownership it had passed through the hands of a well known and respected classic car dealer in North Yorkshire who had carried out a light re-commissioning in 2009 which comprised of rebuilding of the steering box and carburettor, reconditioning the dynamo and re-lining the clutch.
They also carried out work to the bodywork with the doors receiving extensive professional repair with new metal bottom sections. Photographs of this work are included in the history file.
The car has had removable front and rear indicators fitted to the bumpers and an external mirror fitted to the offside to make the car safer for use on todays roads.
Recently, this last owner has had the engine stripped, thoroughly cleaned out, had the head decoked and reground the valves after replacing two of them at a cost of £1300.
The history file contains the current V5 log book, 25 sheets of DVLA ownership history, the current MOT, numerous previous MOT certificates, old road tax discs, sales adverts and the photographs of the bodywork restoration.
Although the car is now MOT exempt as it was manufactured prior to 1960, it has an MOT which runs until March 2017.
Rules that commenced in October 2014 mean that the car will need to be licensed for twelve months from the date of sale for the new owner but this will be free as the car qualifies for the Historic Taxation class.
Very difficult to find in this condition.
