Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera Targa Sport. 66877 Miles SOLD (1987)
|1987 Porsche 911 3.2 Targa Sport.|
First Registered 1/1/1987. Mileage 66877.
Simply stunning black 911 Targa Sport, with black logotype interior. Getrag G50 Gearbox.
This car has been subject to an ongoing rolling restoration since purchased back in 1998.
Absolutely everything on this car has been subjected to restoration or replacement where necessary and then protected accordingly. The list is exhausting, full engine rebuild, lights, lenses, all rubbers, most glass, entire exhaust and heating system, entire suspension, upholstery, dials, Targa roof, countless trims and fixings…… to name just a few.
The invoices for parts and labour that accompany the car total over £35,000, most of which come from marque specialists that will be known to anyone familiar with Porsche circles in the UK. Point to note is that hefty total doesn't include a full professional repaint some years back, this began as a brief to remove and repaint the bumpers and front and rear valances, but ended up being the entire body, door shuts, door frames frames and Targa roll bar also… this is uninvoiced due to a separate arrangement having been made between both parties, needless to say no expense was spared. No metalwork whatsoever was required during this process which in itself is testament to the treatment it has received during its lifetime. The car has had no welding or replacement panels and will hold up to any professional / marque specialist inspection to validate this.
Take the time to browse through the 300 or so photos I have posted covering most aspects of the car and a few of the more notable of the very extensive receipts for work carried out and parts supplied. It is almost breath taking! Remember most of this no expense spared attitude was undertaken when the classic Porsche prices were not as they are now. It's easy to find plenty of 3.2 Carreras or SC's that have been subjected to recent make overs to justify their current sales prices, but this car has had a constant ongoing pampered lifestyle. It really has had a no expense spared existence and a viewing will only really do it justice.

Take for instance a receipt from Autostrasse on the 6th May 2008. A cylinder leakage test indicates a problem with number #4 exhaust valve, after the manifold gaskets have already been replaced, trying to rectify what was slightly uneven running. After various discussions with several marque specialists the car subsequently has an engine rebuild on 17th October (final invoice date) 2008 totalling £8748.53 with JZ Machtech. This is typical of the kind of maintenance the car has undergone. Similarly a few years previously a project involving a suspension and heating/ exhaust overhaul incurs a 'parts only' invoice from Porsche main dealer Colchester of £4059.45.
The breakdown of receipts is a follows (all originals present in the service history file):
JZ Machtech: £9,916.43
Porsche Main Dealer (Lancaster) Colchester (supplied parts only, not labour): £8,899.97
Clark & Carter Restorations: £2,629
Evans Halshaw: £721.45
Porscheshop: £ 575.82
Forest Fine: £500.85
Porsche Apart: £69.33
GSF Car Parts: £65.74
Trend Produkt: £105
Euro Car Parts: £66.98
Design 911: £61.69
H.R. Owen: £29.38
Aside from the full repaint, I have not included numerous others, tyres, batteries etc - for instance tyres on this car are changed based on age regardless of mileage, and of course they are always Porsche approved. It currently sits on immaculate Continentals all round.
It goes without saying that this car is probably one of the best presenting, best maintained and best driving 3.2's you will find, in fact I would honestly say if you can find a better example that you could also practically use on the road without devaluing it - buy it. I am aware that there are various cars claiming to be 'the best available' on the market today, all I would say is invest some time into viewing the photograph link and make your mind up, and if you still need convincing, please view the car. As with any car it's good practice to do your homework - if you view the DVLA/Government online MOT history check (which goes back to 2006) you will see the car has had a perfectly clean pass every year since then - No advisories. How many Porsches of this age can boast that - very few I would imagine.
The car is currently in secure storage but is within 10 miles of numerous highly regarded marque specialists, who could if required undertake a professional mechanical/body inspection for you. I would happily drive the car to any of these, they include: Prill Porsche Classics, Autostrasse, Paul Stephens and Porsche Curves.
Or of course you could commission your own chosen specialist to visit the car at its currently location.
This car is offered for sale at £47,995 or near offer. I am open to sensible offers, preference being given to any buyer who can pay a suitable holding deposit with a view to completing a sale within two weeks.
The current plate is not included, however the car will reside on an age related plate - which will still be a 'D' prefix.
