Austin Allegro 1100DL 1978. Antique Gold. SOLD
Great little car which is great fun to drive and attracts a surprisingly large amount of attention at shows or out and about.
I have owned this car for a year or two now and have previously had it up for sale but have been messed about with so many times it is not fair on me or the car as it is just sitting there unused. It is show season before too long and between my father and I we have too many cars to take out as it is, and it means this car will be lucky to be taken out more than once over summer, subsequently, I would far prefer if somebody could purchase it and actually use and enjoy the car!
It is in good order for the year and price with no major rust issues or mechanical problems. There is a slight knocking from the front passenger side I am advised is a bush or something which will not effect MOT or driving hence why it has been at the bottom of the list of car jobs to be done and so is yet to be rectified. It has an MOT until the 13th August this year. It passed after I had some work done to the brakes at a cost of £100-150 so rest assured you will have no problems there!
Displacers stay up, no issues there and the engine is perfect as is the gearbox. Bodywork is not perfect, it is a nearly 40-year-old car which does show and there is a little bit of rust which can be seen on the bottom of one door, minimal rust on the rear window seal, and some around the front air vents. The car has always been garaged and this really does show. The paintwork is multiple shades of a very 70's brown/ gold and is a long way from being perfect. Nothing structural rust wise, however, and it can be seen from an inspection pit should the buyer so wish.
I think it is necessary to view and inspect the car to appreciate it's true character with a cup of tea and a no pressure chat. We are near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk.
Will come with masses of paperwork including original bill of sale. This car was a charity car for BBC children in need at Chris Evans car fest the summer before last and I purchased it from the charity after it's work there. See the third picture!
