Chevrolet Silverado Custom 5.7L V8 sport side For Sale (1989) edit C72901 | | | Probably the best 1989 Chevrolet Silverado in the UK. It has undergone a complete bare metal re-spray in Porsche black (with a slight flip effect to the paint)and it's been lowered by Bell Tech too and has a Street Box fitted for smooth kick-down on the auto box which has a custom billet column gear shift to include new torque converter and seal and oil seals replaced too.
All in all, it has had £1000's lavished on it ... and it has been valeted on a 6 week basis since 1999!
The bed liner is an All Star and the locking fiberglass lid is by Gaylord. Billet side steps and replacement bumpers front and rear give the truck a sleek retro look. A stainless steel electric aerial and Green Glow neon tubes underneath, LED Fog and reverse lights have been professionally fitted to the tailgate. You will note that two lights fitted to the tail gate ... a Fog light and a reverse light ... are both LED and professionally fitted by Auto Electrix of Swindon. The bed is wired for lights too with an on/off switch mounted under the dash.
Inside the cab you'll find a black velor sport bench, column dress up kit and sport wheel, the head liner is black velvet and the sound system has added a 1000 W's of sound. The dash is carpeted and billet-metal grab handles have been added to replace the plastic ones.
Alloy wheels wear H-rated tyres with lots and lots of tread and the underside of the vehicle has been professionally waxoyled with certificate. The dash has a dash carpet and the seat belts are all newly replaced.
Rear brakes have been professionally re-built with new shoes and brake cylinders and the parking brake cable has been replaced and overhauled.
The side steps are covered with protectors and the carpet is covered with two big custom rubber mats tailored to the Silverado.
The whole truck has been rewired extensively and an air horn compliments the Chevy's look with the deep truck sound.
You'll find the same engine that the Chevy has in a Corvette and with a fiber glass rear and light weight body this vehicle is exceptionally quick and offers good mid-range acceleration too. On a road trip from Marlborough, Wiltshire to Hamburg, Germany via Holland, the Chevy returned around 30mpg when warmed up and hit 140mph on the Autobahn blasting off Mercs and BMW's with ease! That said, this vehicle has not been thrashed! It is looked after and much loved, yet as middle age embraces it;s owner he feels it's time to let someone else enjoy the sheer driving pleasure of this unique pick-up truck.
The cab has air conditioning too and the usefulness of the vehicle cannot be understated! It is a sport truck that you can use and live with every day!
The starter, alternator, belts and pre-tension arm have been replaced as have the battery and the injector seals etc.
The only flaw is a broken glove box hinge for which I now have a replacement glove box door.
The vehicle has a bug shield fitted.
The Chevy has a unique Dead Elvis bonnet mascot fitted too which was cast as a one off in Australia by a Holden fanatic. The Chevy has a fitted cover to protect the truck from dust when n storage although it is an all weather cover.
It has a 350 small block K-series engine fitted.
I might consider an offer to swop the Chevy for an S600 Mercedes or something interesting from the 1930's like a Railton, but all in all, if it doesn't sell I'll happily keep it! It is not the bag of problems you'll see on E-bay and is not to be confused with the extended cab or 4x4 ... this is a petrol heads dream and a rare 2wd sport-truck that turns heads again and again! Whilst parked up one day, a coach party of American's gathered around the Chevy; these were truck mad dudes who all stated that the Chevy was one of the best and indeed most tastefully restored they had ever seen.
Most recently it has had a Dynomax ultra flow welded muffler fitted to the new CAT back exhaust system. The whole system was powder coated by MDN Powder Coating specialists. The system now exits either side of the license plate under the rear bumper.
The steering system has also been rebuilt and the vehicle has been mostly re-bushed too.
All in all this is a one off pick-up!
