1967 SUNBEAM ALPINE GT MK V ONLY 15500 HOLBAY SUPERB SOLD

SUNBEAM ALPINE GT MK 5 (V)
ONLY 15500 MILES FROM NEW!
SYMPATHETICALLY RESTORED IN 2008
HOLBAY ENGINE UPGRADE + TWIN DCOE WEBBERS
YEARS MOT.. NO ADVISES
This is a lovely example of a Series V Sunbeam Alpine Convertible built in 1967 in almost the very last year of production of this iconic British 2 seater sports car.
The car is finished in its original gleaming red, with original black interior trim, black carpets and hood . It has obviously been garaged for most of its life and while not in “concours” condition, it could be brought up to similar standard if desired. As it is, she has a lovely patina and is an ideal car to be used and enjoyed.
This is the original registration number by the way. Being a series V, it also has servo –assisted brakes and she is excellent to drive.
HOLBAY CONVERSION: This is a popular but rare upgrade. The 1725 engine has much more power than the standard engine of the same CC. The terrible SU carbs have been upgrade to twin Webber DCOE’s. The engine has good oil pressure (25 Psi on tickover when hot!) and pulls well and the gearbox, clutch and brakes all operate correctly. Under the bonnet is clean and tidy.
It had a restoration in 2007 (have photos) and most parts were replaced, too many to list but here are some, new hood, new tyres, new panels, coil/ leads/, alternator, new seats, new carpets, radiator, brakes and pipes, full respray, etc, etc. It was ‘waxoiled’ completely underneath which should protect it for another 50 years.
It comes with a shower cover, spare key, ram air filters, toolkit, spares (oil filters/ fan belt, etc), stainless steel exhaust system, new battery, etc
Sunbeam Alpines were (and still are) very popular cars for Films and TV. Their appearances and drivers have ranged from James Bond in “Dr No”, Michael Caine in “Get Carter” to Oliver Reed in “I’ll Never Forget What’ s ‘Is Name” (as I recall), as they were easy to drive by film stars of the ‘60’s. Unfortunately however, the survival rate has been fairly low (compared to the MGB for example). I read recently (in a Sunday Times article) that there are only around 3000 survivors of this model, of which I think this is one of the most genuine.
I have the logbook in my name, years MOT with old MOT certificates, old tax discs. restoration photos, workshop manuals, loads of receipts and bills.
The only known faults are the right hand rear light reflectors is broken, the time clock is not working, couple of cracks in the wood steering wheel and that’s about it.. astonishing for a 50 year old car.
I bought his for my wife for £13, 000 8 months ago but she now says she wants an automatic car so its priced to sell and a bargain so be quick! More photos available here, just post this URL in your browser box.
