MORRIS MINOR 1000 Four Door Saloon ~ Only 52302 Miles ~ SOLD (1968)
|The Morris Minor is the quintessential British classic car and this is an unusual example having only covered a genuine 52302 miles from new. |
It was bought new from A J Allen & Son of Catford by Mrs Ward of Bromley on 18.7.1968 for the amount of Seven Hundred and Forty Pounds, Three Shillings and One Pence which included seat belts, wing mirror and chassis underseal. It was registered on the 1st of August in order to have the new "G" registraion.
Mrs Ward owned the car for over 20 years until 1989 when it had only covered 15000 miles and when she died, it was inherited by her nephew, Sir Christopher Collett, who was Lord Mayor of London at the time. The history file contains two newspaper articles detailing this early history of the car.
Sir Christopher owned the car until August 2005 at which time it had covered 49000 miles. It had not covered many miles during the last few years of his ownership and was sold needing some restoration. By this time, Sir Christopher was living in Scotland and the car was bought by a local enthusiast in Lockerbie who carried out the work that the car required to put it into regular use.
In 2009 it was bought by another enthusiast in Lockerbie who improved the car further by having new wings fitted, the body resprayed and fitting a brake servo, Newton Commercial carpet set, towbar, dash gauges and badge bar.
Its last owner bought it in 2011 and has fitted the Wipac spotlights, boot rack and new alloy wheels with new tyres to give the car the look we see today.
The excellent documentation file contains the current V5, the original sales invoice, copies of previous V5s and DVLA paperwork showing the ownership history, the two newspaper articles, the current MOT certificate, numerous previous MOT certificates, the original stamped Passport to Service books, dozens of invoices detailing work carried out and parts purchased during the life of the car along with other relevant paperwork.
The current MOT runs until December 2016 and new rules that commenced in October 2014 mean that the car will be licensed for 12 months at no cost from the date of sale as it qualifies for the Historic Taxation class.
