Reliant Fox For Sale For Sale (1983)
I'm selling my Reliant Fox,
Fiat fire 999cc engine fitted
Comes with more spare bits pieces than will happily fit in it.
On the road but needs some tidying
Lots of new parts fitted
Engine recently rebuilt

Has galvanised chassis as standard -Rust free,
New Protech coilovers on front,
Stainless sleeved brake master cylinder,
Copper brake pipes throughout,
Kunifer fuel line,
Filter king fuel pressure regulator and facet pump,
Aluminium Reliant pattern radiator,
Kenlowe Fan with adjustable thermostat,
Later type (Roller release) clutch conversion,
All brake cylinders replaced,
Recent rear brake back plates,
New track rod ends,
Engine has recent rebuild, bearings, seals and piston rings...
Cylinder head skimmed and block decked minimum to clean before reassembly,
1108 cylinder head with Newmans valve springs,
Reconditioned Reliant Su with stay up float kit,
Full restoration carried out a couple of years ago so no really nasty bits :)

Very noisy inside as engine is on very stiff mounts and there's no soundproofing fitted,
Door hinges are in very poor condition but functional
Tracking needs looking at ...I've recently fitted new track rod ends but just set by eye so far.
Paintwork really needs attention and also small areas of the body work (front wheelarch is worst (shown in pic), bonnet has crack near hinges and the hard top corners are damaged...I forgot to fasten it on once and it blew off down the road!)
Rear dampers are original ones and past their best.
Overall it needs a good tidy up.
The Fiat engine is too big to lift out through the bonnet and unfortunately the gearbox can't be removed leaving engine in situ as I'd hoped. I think the whole unit could probably be dropped out from underneath but I just lifted off the body for any major work as its pretty easy to do with a few willing helpers :)

Before I last rebuilt the Fox I experimented with tuned Reliant engines and a tuned Fiat engine but found that the Reliant gearbox is not happy when stressed :/
I looked into the possibility of fitting a stronger gearbox and axle etc.. but decided this would be a step too far from originality & also would cost more money and time than I have spare :).
As a result of this I replaced the broken box with a secondhand working one and have de-tuned the Fiat engine to somewhere near standard (should be around 50hp). It currently has a Reliant carb, Fiat Cinquecento cam and standard manifolds, flywheel etc.....
Newmans 750 formula cam, Hs6 carb and tubular manifolds etc are available via separate negotiation though not really recommended :).
The Fox has been a great and practical runabout (despite the in-cab noise) in its current form for the past 6 months. I'll be very sorry to see it go but other projects, lack of space and funds mean it needs to go to someone who can give it the attention it deserves.
