A rare opportunity to own one of the unique 15 (or 17) Adams Jaguar Roadsters
This is plated as number 5 and based on 1976 Jaguar XJ6 donor vehicle – next year registered as Historic so no Road Tax
I have owned the car for two and a half years after it had been stored and SORN
It has now been completely re-commissioned at a cost of several thousand pounds and is now a fabulous example of Dennis Adams' superb design
The last owner, in place of the original Jaguar engine and auto box, began fitting a rebuilt BMW 2.8 straight six engine with a 5 speed Getrag gearbox but could not totally complete due to poor health
The work has now been completed this year using many new parts and it looks and drives superbly
The original complete 4 year build of this car by a design engineer is documented on a CD and the photographs show the total high standard carried out for each stage of the build

The Adams Roadster
Designed by Dennis Adams to create his version of the “Ideal 1930s Sports Car” – nostalgic perfection. He made 15 (or17) in all, 10 of which possibly remain in the UK so it is a very rare car.
Dennis Adams was probably the best British post-war chassis engineer responsible for the Probe, Marcos and Lister Jaguar. The “chassis is a 4”X2” and 2”X2”rectangular steel E.R.W. box section, crossed braced, and is arc and M.I.G welded then ground and polished before being spray finished in gun metal Hammerite”. The body is “hand lay up in 6oz GRP…. with all colour impregnated before spraying”.
Mechanically Adams used his own chassis, body and suspension, allied to Jaguar running gear. Most cars used the XK Straight Six 4.2 litre, triple carburettor set up, producing impressive performance with a top speed of well over 100 mph.
It has beautiful classic lines from every angle, is large and comfortable with a spacious cockpit and weather-proof hood. Superbly engineered cars correctly registered as Adams Roadsters.
