1958 D.P. NIMBUS SOLD

FOR SALE.

A unique opportunity to own this historic race car which was originally built by Don Parker and was seen on the tracks during the 1950/ 60's. It was subsequently used for sprints and hill climbs by Don and members of his family prior to my purchase.
I bought the car in a "sorry state" and undertook a total every nut and bolt rebuild with no expense spared. Suspension parts were nickel plated, chassis blasted and powder coated to the original colour as discovered upon stripping down. The same applies to the body colour having found the original red this was then specto-graphed and painted accordingly.
The driver's seat was replaced and trimmed in black leather.
Full harness seat belt, fire extinguisher system, new wiring in fact every details has been addressed.
Originally the car was front engined and then in 1964 they went to Abingdon and purchased a "works' engine and gearbox which was then fitted making it a rear engined car.
The car was the prototype for the GSM cars. The second Prototype GSM body being fitted to the rolling chassis.
There is a comprehensive record / photographs / entry lists of the life and events in which the car took place.
There is a comprehensive record of the car during the rebuild.
The corner weights have all been set.
I am only the second registered owner of this car.
The original registration TOY 711 is non-transferable.
Mini Cooper 'S' disc brakes are fitted to all four wheels and I have made new aluminium billet hubs.

I am selling the car as a fully rolling unit but less the rebuilt "works' engine and gearbox due to their cost and value, but should a prospective buyer be interested this would be negotiable.

Any BMC transverse A / A Plus series engine and gearbox could be fitted.

The car features is the book Maximum Mini by Jeroen Booij.

This is a genuine reason for sale as having had a hip replacement, arthritis in the knees, hands and back and now unfortunately having to acknowledge that age is catching up.
