Citroen 2CV Charleston Yellow and Black SOLD (1982)
|My rare 22/10/82 yellow and black Charleston.|
In 1981 the Charleston in black and yellow was introduced, but because of slow sales Citroen discontinued this colour combination rather quickly which made it a rather rare and sought after model.
MOT Expires 12 December 2017 with no advisories.
104k miles (In 6 years done less that 4000 miles)
Dry stored since 09/15 (myself and previous owner).
The car has seen a full restoration and respray by Frome in 2002/3 which has done a great job of preserving the car. It seems no work has been done to the car since the restoration except for the work I have recently had carried out by a 2CV professional.
This work includes new roof, new kingpin, new bonnet, new inner and outer bulkhead. Welding to floor pans, seatbelt mounts and boot floor.
I have decided not to paint over the welding so that all recent work is visible to potential buyers. In the sale I am including the paint required to paint over welded patches. I have not used any filler, T-cut or underseal. What you see is what you get. I have travelled hundreds of miles to go and view cars in the past to find that they arenít as described, so I have made an effort to highlight any imperfections that the car has. In the past the chassis has been replaced with a Dyanne chassis, which is renowned for being superior to the original 2cv chassis. The chassis is in great condition with only one small patch of welding.
The body is in good condition which could make it a great full restoration project. Filler seems to have been used on the rear sweeps.
Usual places of rust are very good. Rear smaller windows are completely free of rust. Bonnet hinge is rust free, no evidence of any past collisions.
Solid engine. A very comfortable drive in comparison to many other 2CV's I have driven. Minimal rattling. Starts first time. Recent service includes valve cleaning, carb and jets cleared, oil check. It is fitted with a more modern voltage regulator.
Its last long journey was from Edinburgh to Northampton and it cruised at 70mph the whole journey.
Seats could do with a few more rubbers, but happy to include a bag of them in the sale. Comes with floor mats. Fabric covering the walls is in fairly good condition. Fabric over the bulkhead, and behind the dashboard. No tears in the door cards. Very tidy looking inside.
Panels need a bit of tlc, Rust bubbles on the side of the boot lid and rusty on the back of the boot lid. Rust on the bottom of the front OS & NS door. NS front door also has a rust on the window ledge. Dent on the rear OS door. Good door seals, with the exception of the drivers door, which could do with being replaced. Cracks in the paintwork of the OS front and NS back wings where the wings have flexed in the middle. All door locks work. Bumpers are pretty ratty.
Tire tread is pretty good (Mitchelin and Firestone). Fog light included but not attached. Chrome strips that go above the rear wings are included but not attached. Comes with a spare wheel and winter guard. The speedo cable is loose so the speedo sometimes makes a noise.
A fully working and well preserved car, ready to drive away.
Tax costs £145.00 per year, and with a 602cc engine this car is very cheap to insure, which makes it a great young personís car. Or equally a great car for carrying out a full restoration. The car is already on its way to being a full restoration which fetch in the region of £12,000.
On the sale of this car, I am happy to offer support and advise on mechanics, part, dealers and clubs. If local, I can also recommend great Mechanics and MOT centres.
