Arrows A9 F1 turbo era car for sale For Sale (1986)
|The Arrows A9 was built for the 1986 Formula One season, and powered by the turbocharged, Heini Mader-tuned inline four-cylinder Megatron BMW M12 engine, similar to the unit used by the Benetton and Brabham teams. The A9 only saw action at three races in the 1986 season, at the German and Austrian Grands Prix in the hands of Thierry Boutsen, and the Hungarian Grand Prix with Christian Danner.|
These BMW engines are widely regarded as the most powerful Formula 1 engines ever, with the 1986 Benetton engine reportedly putting out a staggering 1500bhp in qualifying trim.
Chassis A9/1 that we have for sale is on the button and ready to run at events such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed (where it was invited in 2012), or it could make the most outrageous track-day toy. 1980s Turbocharged F1 cars are really starting to gain in popularity, especially with the younger generation of buyer, where huge slicks and huge power are very much the fashion. There will one day of course be a place to race these staggering Turbo F1 cars.
With the current owner, the car has been stored in a heated and dehumidified environment. The car comes with a complete set of original Arrows drawings and a spares package.
During the comprehensive rebuild, the following work was completed:

Every mechanical component restored to its original spec
Wishbones & uprights crack tested and the wishbones re-powder coated
