If you're considering investing in one of these great old British convertible sports cars, then this particular example has to be a serious consideration.
The car was supplied to its original owner by Henleys of London, in December of 1977. The documentation on file includes correspondence between Henleys and the new owner, and even the original bill of sale. The car was ordered in Inca yellow, with contrasting trim, with a range of options including full rustproofing. The detail makes for fascinating reading.
The comprehensive history file includes the original drivers handbook, original MG workshop manual, period brochures, the original Leland service passport from Henleys, and of course, a raft of mantanence invoices from over the years.
It appears that the car ended up being garaged from around 1997, and in 2013, the then owner undertook a significant amount of restoration work to the car. The car was still structurally excellent, and work completed included the overhaul of the brake system, new radiator, clutch and brake master and slave cylinders, fuel tank and lines, exhaust, tyres, distributor with electronic ignition, etc, etc. Around 80% of the coachwork was stripped to bare metal, fully resprayed, and is still looking sharp 4 years on. At the same time, the interior was fully re trimmed, including seats being rebuilt and recovered, new carpets, hood, etc. There are full and half tonneau covers with the car.
The mechanics of the car are equally impressive. It had a Gold Seal replacement engine in the 1980's (Certificate and warranty certificate in file) and still pulls like a train today. We've checked compressions, and all four are an even 145. Gearbox is, of course, the overdrive type, and again, is spot on.
Please don't confuse this lovely old car with the average tired MG. This car has been very much a "High days and holidays" car since its overhaul in 2013, covering an average of only 300 miles per year since then. It has had only 4 previous owners from new.
So there we have it, a great looking and driving classic MGB, with great pedigree and provenance, and at a very, very competitive price.
Although currently MOT'd, she'll come with a fresh MOT at point of sale, off the key, and ready for summer.
Even at this price, we'll consider YOUR classic car or motorcycle in part exchange.
