My RS500 arrived at Aston Martins subsidiary company, Aston Martin Tickford on 30 June 1987 and was despatched 22 July 1987 following conversion and 47 miles of testing.

Original and unmodified condition from new. With present owner for c. 13 years.
There are very few unmodified and "genuine" RS500s left from the original production run of 500 cars without having been recommissioned from upgrades, conversions etc. This particular car has been kept in original condition from new. The ECU still has the original manufacturer’s seals intact and unbroken since new (see photo). Inside - the upholstery tight and unmarked. Everything functions and works correctly on the car. It comes with three car keys and wheel lock key.

PRESENT OWNER
Has owned 2-Door Sierra Cosworth’s for around 25 years. Prior to purchase, an inspection of my RS500 was carried out by Graham Goode Racing, Leicester. (GGR is acknowledged as one of the UK’s leading Cosworth Specialists) Dry stored "within" residential property for c. 13 years,(not a typical garage open to the elements where the car would sweat and suffer from condensation). I have decided to sell my RS500 Cosworth and reinvest in other projects.

Five hundred extra special units of the 150 mph + Ford Sierra Cosworth RS 500’s went on sale in Britain on August 1st 1987. The RS500 was the more powerful (224bhp) ‘Evolution’ model introduced to allow the Ford Motor Company to develop the original limited production run of 5, 000 to allow 500 units of the RS500 to be homologated for International Touring Car Racing in Group A. Aston Martins subsidiary company, Aston Martin Tickford were appointed to convert these legendary RS500 cars by replacing the engine with the more powerful RS500 thick wall block 224 bhp YBD engine. The RS500’s potential to exceed 560 plus reliable bhp in race trim was archived by specialist companies such as Graham Goode Racing. Graham Goode Racing inspected this car with the current owner prior to purchase. Additional aerodynamic features were incorporated in the bodywork not included on the standard 2-door hatch body shell. including a purposeful "gurney" 30mm lip on the upper spoiler to the rear edge of the upper spoiler to increase rear downforce to around 120 lbs (54 kgs) over the standard 2-door hatch Cosworth. A second spoiler was also fitted below this and bonded direct to the tailgate. Interestingly, stronger gas struts were fitted to support the extra weight of the tailgate too (as pointed out to me by GGR on inspection). Larger cooling ducts were included in the design of the front air dam for the “radiator” sized upgraded intercooler and additional front brake cooling. In addition, an aerodynamic splitter (undamaged on this car) was fitted to the bottom of the RS500’s unique front air dam recognisable by its larger cooling ducts. The 500 RS500s were only available through 90 specialist Ford Rally Sport (RS) dealers in the UK at a cost of £19, 950, (£42, 000 in today’s money) and were all sold almost immediately (Source Ford News Release 87/ 76
ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT PERTINENT TO THIS CAR
The standard package included the following - body side mouldings, integral front air dam, colour coded and electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, body colour lockable fuel filler cap, louvered bonnet cooling vents, halogen headlamps, body colour (with rubber finishing strip insert) front air dam and rear bumpers, a secondary bonded tailgate mounted spoiler, tinted glass all round in excellent condition, tailgate wash/ wipe, laminated windscreen, central locking, extended centre console (with conversion plaque - "No 125 of 500"), 12V socket - cigar lighter, digital clock, fascia light rheostat, leather gear knob and leather three spoke sports steering wheel, both in excellent condition, 3-speed heater fan, electronic sound system, Ford Model ECU2 with power amplifier and balance control, new electric aerial, Recaro Sports front seats, split folding rear seats, tilt and slide sunroof, tachometer with turbo boost gauge, trip recorder, anti-locking brake system with failure warning light, electric front windows. All these features are in excellent condition and work on this car.

EXTERIOR TRIM
Anyone looking to buy this car will be aware of the aggressive exterior of the RS500. Whenever I'm out with the car it attracts substantial attention, even from onlookers of my 500. The car is finished in Ford Black the paintwork boasts a deep gloss shine from the factory finish. All exterior trim, glass and lights remain free from damage as does the vulnerable front splitter (previously mentioned). The unique silver coach line and RS500 badges applied to the front wings and tailgate are still present. The engine bay and car is totally original in condition.

INTERIOR TRIM
The interior of this RS500 is unmarked. Finished in Ford Roma Grey, the Recaro seats and carpeted door trim are in first class condition. The driver and passenger’s seat bolsters are firm with a soft velvet feel. The carpets are spotless, show no signs of wear and have been further protected by Black carpet mats embossed with Red RS Cosworth Logos and finish off the cockpit area nicely. As and extra. engraved RS Cosworth Stainless Steel protective cill kick plates are fitted. The boot area is unmarked.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The RS500 Cosworth YBD-Series 2. 0 litre, 16 valve twin overhead camshaft, four cylinder, twin fuel rails with 8 fuel injectors, turbocharged and intercooled engine which in standard road use, develops 224 bhp. RS500 Factory upgrades over the standard 2-door hatchback include a much larger Garrett T31/ T04 turbocharger, twin fuel rails with injectors for each cylinder. Pressurised oil cooling for each of the engine’s pistons and a larger capacity oil and water pump. Standard performance is 0-60mph in 6. 2 seconds and a top speed of 153mph. A Borg Warner T5 5-speed gearbox delivers power to the Limited Slip Differential rear axle.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Undamaged factory fitted 15 X 7-inch aluminium alloy (ATS) wheels are fitted with new Yokohama AVS Sport Rotational 205/ 50 R15 tyres. The spare wheel comes with a Dunlop D40 SP Sport 2000 205/ 50 R15 tyre. Four-wheel disc brakes with ABS and a hydraulic booster.
