Beautiful Bedford CF Ice Cream Van (1973) For SaleI'm reluctantly selling my beautiful Bedford CF ice cream /bakery van due to a move overseas. The van was registered in 1973 and has a 1759cc petrol engine (uses unleaded with additive). It was MOT'd in February 2017.
I've spent many £1,000's on this van over my four years of ownership. I've renovated most of the interior from the floor upwards, including replacement wooden floor, custom made woodwork, paintwork, new sky light etc. On the exterior, I've had the white paintwork redone, new rear lights, wing mirrors, a couple of hub caps and white trim painting (front bumper and hub caps). The engine has also been extensively updated including a new, custom-made exhaust, a new carburetor and distributor. Most recently, it's been in a specialist garage for 8 months, having the lower engine repaired and updated. This has included removing and stripping down the engine, removing and regrinding the crankshaft, renewing all seals and gaskets, a new clutch and battery, renewing oil, antifreeze and faulty bulbs.
The freezer was serviced a couple of years ago and has worked well ever since. It plugs into a regular socket overnight and this keeps the freezer sufficiently cold for many hours of trading the following day. I've never needed a generator. I've had a leisure battery installed (which charges from the engine) and this powers the cash register.
The van is sold as seen and includes all the contents shown in the photos including all storage boxes, scoops, cash register, hot water flasks, ice cream cone holders, Cath Kidston storage bags, hand-made seat cover (in Cath Kidston fabric) and all decorations.
The van was inspected by an EHO as part of the business inspection and the business was subsequently awarded 5 stars.
I adapted the van to sell both ice-cream and cupcakes. I removed the smaller, chiller freezer to make more room. However, I still have this and am very happy to include it for free in the sale in case you want to re-install it at some point.
I've put a huge amount of time, money and love into this van but do bear in mind that this is a 44 year old vehicle and, as with all vintage vehicles, will need ongoing care and maintenance. Also - like many old vehicles, it has a few minor quirks and issues which I'm happy to talk through. This includes a few minor cosmetic imperfections which I've priced in - although the bodywork is generally in a good condition. You may wish to check over the van yourself and I'm very happy to encourage and facilitate this.
I've just hugely discounted the price to £16,500 as I'm looking for a quick sale now. A 10% deposit is to be paid within 24 hours of the sale agreement. The outstanding balance is to be paid by bank transfer on collection from Oxford - and the buyer is to arrange collection.
