Standard flying 9 ww2 bommber command For Sale (1937)
|Here we have my Standard flying 9, originally registered in 1937 succonded to the RAF in 1940 released back into civvy street 1945 . How do I know this? under the paint was the post 1943 khaki paint, under that the 1940 RAF blue with the original markings. I also have the brown log book the car is still on its original reg the log book contains a lot of information including a petrol ration stamp for Jan 1946 from Brooklands recruiting centre.|
The car has the markings of Bomber command 3 group 149 squadron based at RAF Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath the car was sold in 1945 to a Mr Wollard of Mildenhall and it remained there until the 1990s
The car has had a full body off restoration with a photographic file , no filler or bodge , the engine gearbox, brakes have been rebuilt , new period correct wiring harness , with the subtle addition of indicators ( trafficators still fitted ) new ply floor , quality recovered upholstery, door cards, wool head lining , a working sun roof and as new fitted blue carpets ,
The car starts with ease and soon settles down to a even tick over, with good oil pressure, all the gauges and lights work and the dynamo is charging, the gear change is crisp and the clutch light the brakes pull you up evenly.
This is a authentic car and is good enough for a museum, 40s events , film hire , etc
But don't expect it to drive like a modern car ! after all its nearly 80 years old
Transport , I have contacts who will transport the car anywhere just ask for a quote
the car can be viewed I am based in Derby my number 07984151648
thanks for looking Paul
